10 named to All-Area Track Teams

Ten members of the varsity track teams earned All-Area honors, with both the Tigers and Lady Tigers selected as Team of the Year. Head coach of both teams, Kevin Hunt, was named Coach of the Year.
Paige Banks, a rising senior, finished fourth at the state meet in the 200 meter, and was a part of the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams that each placed third. She is the daughter of Ricky Carter and Pamela Banks-Carter of Atlanta.
Darlene Chikezie, a rising senior, was a part of both third-place 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams at state. She also placed eighth in the state triple jump. She is the daughter of Ruby Nnadi of Jonesboro, Ga.
Ansley McDurmon, a rising senior, had two top-five finishes at the state meet, placing third in the 3200 and fifth in the 1600, after winning both at the region meet. She is the daughter of Heather and Kelly McDurmon of Rome.
Terar Stewart is a rising junior. After a season full of top finishes in the shot put, she capped her year with a fourth-place finish in the event at the state meet. She is the daughter of Nikki and Andre Stewart of Summerville, Ga.
Anna Swafford ('11) finished fourth in both the 100 and 300 hurdles at state. She was also a part of the 4x100 and 4x400 teams that both took third. She is the daughter of Pam and Keith Swafford of Dallas, Ga.
Jesse Baker, a rising senior, took third at state in the 1600 and fifth in the 3200 after winning both at the region meet. He was also a part of the 4x400 team. He is the son of Patty and Phil Baker of Rome.
Cam Collins, a rising senior, took fifth at state in the 800 meter. He also placed seventh in the 1600 and was a part of the 4x400 team that took eighth. He is the son of Rozanne and Forrest Collins of Calhoun, Ga.
Ivy Duggan, a rising senior, placed sixth at the state meet in the 400 meter and was a part of the 4x400 team that took eighth. He also qualified for the 200. He is the son of Kendall and Stewart Duggan of Rome and Jill and Chris Niblett of Perry, Ga.
Cameron Gibson, a rising senior, came just short of winning a state title, placing second in the 110 hurdles. He also took seventh in the 300 hurdles. He is the son of Carman and Warren Gibson of Rome.
Christopher Griffin ('11) was a constant point-scorer for the Tigers in the shot put. He capped the year by placing third at the state meet in the event. He is the son of Rita and William Griffin of Rome.
Honorable Mentions went to Carolynn Kipp, Alea Vick, Chelsea Winfrey, Nigel Matthews, Josh Carter, Alex Cox and Cedric Spivey.
