Middle Grades Daily Schedule
Much more than a routine.
The middle grades daily schedule is a teacher-led academic exploration. Students are nurtured and empowered through class periods that allow them the time to deep-dive into projects and truly focus on their passions and pursuits.
Intentional by design.
Darlington's daily schedule is intentionally designed to support the whole student—academically, socially, and personally. Longer class periods provide students with the time to engage more deeply with ideas, ask thoughtful questions, collaborate with classmates, and take greater ownership of their learning. Natural transitions throughout the day create opportunities for reflection, connection, and a balanced pace that encourages curiosity while reinforcing our shared commitment to being a community of learners.
Beyond the classroom, the schedule is structured to strengthen every aspect of the Darlington experience. Dedicated time for Advisory, Study Hall, Clubs, Exploratory, and student wellness fosters meaningful relationships, personal growth, and a strong sense of community. At the same time, built-in collaboration and professional development for faculty ensure our teachers continue to grow alongside their students, creating an exceptional learning environment. The result is a consistent, intentional schedule that supports academic excellence while bringing Darlington's Portrait of a Graduate to life every day.
The Rotating Schedule
The schedule follows an eight-day rotation, and the graphic below shows how it flows. A few details to notice:
- Every day starts with Flagpole, a community gathering of grades 3 to 8 for sharing announcements, special presentations, stating the school mission, and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
- The school day after Day 8 is always a Day 1, regardless of the day of the week.
- Break at 9:10 a.m. is followed by advisory, study hall, or club period depending on the day of the week.
- Lunch is staggered with a short break before or after depending on grade level.
- After the last class of the day, students will either join their sports team or physical education. Sports practices typically go until 4 p.m.
- An exact day-by-day schedule with assigned classes is available to current students and parents on their portals.
