Day #SeniorSpotlight: Zain Elkhatib

Maddie Chastain | May 4, 2026 | 5 views

A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

Let’s get to know Zain Elkhatib, a 13-year day student from Palestine who is captain of the soccer team.

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Community, family, welcoming

What song reminds you of high school?
“Where’d All the Time Go” by Dr. Dog

What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“Gossip Girl”

What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Lumina

What house are you a member of?
Regester

What are you involved in?
I am a day leader in Regester, captain of the soccer team, vice president of Student Activities Committee, HOSA, LLS, and an Advancement Ambassador. I also used to run cross country.

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
I play soccer and my favorite coaches are Shorey and Ducky. They make the team feel like a family and really push me.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
The cove because when it becomes hot outside everyone sitting outside is so much fun and just feels good.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
My favorite teacher is Mr. Hudson because he’s very funny and teaches well.

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
How this community feels like a big family, and how competitive all houses get for Rumpus.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
Rumpus is an experience that I wouldn’t have had anywhere else. The competition and seriousness it takes is insane.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I have become more of an extrovert and have been getting better at getting out of my comfort zone.

What is your dream job?
Possibly to become an orthodontist, but I’m not really sure

If you have already committed to a college, please let us know which one you will be attending.
Boston University
