Senior Mary Kate Bojo has been named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for September.
"Mary Kate is a top-tier student that has a very bright future ahead of her," said science teacher Mike Hudson ('94), her advisor. "In the classroom, her combination of great effort and authentic curiosity brings her a lot of success. As a person, she has a kind and energetic personality that makes the classroom a better place. She is an all-around great kid and I am proud to have taught her."
A day student who has been enrolled at Darlington since third grade, Bojo has taken 15 Honors and AP classes. A member of National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, she serves on the Honor Council, the Arts Council, and as a tutor in the Writing Center. She is also a member of the varsity cheerleading squad.
"Mary Kate is an extremely organized and conscientious student," said Melissa Smyly, head of the English department and varsity cheer coach. "She always works hard and gives her best effort regardless of the significance of the assignment."
Outside of school, Bojo is an intern at McRae Smith Peek law firm and spends time volunteering with Extra Special People Inc.
The daughter of Jenny and Brian Bojo of Rome, Mary Kate will be honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on Sept. 12.
