Young Alumni Council elects new president, confirms 8 new members

Darlington’s Young Alumni Council elected Hanna Jon Lewis ('16) as president and welcomed eight new members at the May meeting.

Lewis, who has been serving as vice president of the Young Alumni Council since its inception, now begins her term as president. A day student from Rome, Hanna Jon was a leader on campus. Now, she is a marketing brand assistant for Minute Maid at Coca-Cola in Atlanta. A graduate of the University of Georgia, she holds a bachelor's degree in digital marketing and master's degree in financial planning and services. 

New members include: 

Charlotte Boyd ('15, LD ’22) is an investment bank analyst with Truist Bank in Atlanta. A four-year boarding student, she was very involved in every aspect of campus life, from cheerleading and House Senate to Y-Cabinet and Advancement Ambassadors. Charlotte studied at the University of Georgia and continued to stay engaged with Darlington through Darlington Connects and Leadership Darlington.

Lawson Brown (‘21) currently attends Samford University, where he is serving this summer as an orientation leader. He has stayed connected to Darlington by coming to our Tiger Chapter event in Birmingham this spring. Lawson came to Darlington as a day student in the lower grades and played basketball and baseball in addition to serving as a house leader. 

Rachel Christopher ('12) lives and works in Atlanta as a marketing operations manager for Autodesk. She was a four-year resident student at Darlington and leader on and off the field. Rachel went to Barry University in Miami, Fla., before returning to Atlanta to begin her career in marketing. She has stayed connected with Darlington by attending events and supporting The Darlington Fund. 

Bernadette Ebri ('17) is currently attending medical school at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, N.C. A four-year boarding student, she was involved heavily in campus life as head prefect, Tiger Expert, and a member of Student Council, Discipline Committee, and numerous academic groups. She was awarded the Thornwood Bracelet for General Excellence at Commencement. Bernadette went on to study at the University of Miami Ohio before entering med school. 

Jazlyn Green ('15) is a medical scribe with Piedmont Hospital Neuro Acute Care. She came to Darlington in middle school. As a student, she excelled in both sports and fine arts. She went on to George Mason University and now lives in Rome.

Veeka Malanchuk ('20) currently attends Beloit College in Wisconsin, where she is majoring in Russian and education and minoring in geology and Spanish. A day student and day house leader, she attended Darlington for her high school years. She was involved in volleyball, swimming, cross country, and Concert Choir, to name a few. 

Brandon Robinson ('14) was a four-year day student from Silver Creek, Ga. He was involved as an athlete playing both basketball and track and field. He also participated in fine arts through Stadium Band. Brandon attended Young Harris College and now works as an insurance account representative for State Farm in the Rome area. 

Sam Tackeberry ('18) is a LEAP associate at Fidelity Investments Raleigh, N.C. A four-year boarding student, he was an athlete and also served as a head prefect, on Student Council, on the Honor Council, as a Tiger Expert, and as an Advancement Ambassador. After Darlington, he went on to study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has stayed connected to Darlington as class agent and Darlington Fund contributor.
