Eighth-grader Kensie Waller won the Thatcher Hall Spelling Bee after 19 rounds of competion. The top three competitors battled it out for eight rounds before Kensie won the Bee with the word "sudoku." Isha Garg, seventh grade, placed second, and Evy Molnar, fifth grade, placed third.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to compete in the spelling bee," said Waller. "I want to thank my competitors for staying positive and being supportive of everyone that participated in the Spelling Bee and for making it a comfortable environment. I'm excited to move forward to the next round."

Both Waller and Garg will advance to the regional spelling bee competition, which will be held virtually this year.
