My Senior Ventures project focuses on design and architecture. I decided to focus on this due to a project I completed in 2018 where I designed three different houses based on three levels of income in the Bahamas. Investing time in this project led to a new found passion for Computer Aided Design (CAD). The software I used for this project was challenging, but I knew I wanted to learn how to use other more advanced CAD programs because I am interested in designing houses in the future.
During this Senior Venture, I will learn how to use SketchUp Pro. This specific CAD software is challenging and is used frequently in the business world. I will be able to add more details to the house I design and render my designs to provide more of a realistic look. My goal is to make this house look as realistic as possible. I feel fortunate to have this opportunity to learn this new software and to have a year to learn more about architecture and design.
The Senior Ventures leadership program is a year-long senior project built on a framework of leadership, innovation, and community engagement. The topic and the project design are chosen by an individual student or a pair of students, and the journey is guided by Darlington faculty as well as mentors in the community. Most projects fall into one of the following categories: Investigation, Performance, Entrepreneurship, and Outreach. Candidates are selected according to proposal quality, feasibility, and commitment.
