When looking for a boarding school option for their son, Thomas ('23), the Bethels knew they wanted something close to their home in Atlanta that would provide a structured, challenging, and supportive academic environment as well as competitive athletics. Darlington was the perfect fit. But the Bethels are no strangers to Darlington. Tom's father, Jim Bethel ('63); his uncle, Bob Bethel ('61); and his cousins, Cathy (Allen) Radcliff ('86) and Chrissie (Allen) Kirila ('87), are alumni. In addition, Tom's grandfather, Wilbur A. Bethel, is a life trustee.
Jenny and Tom shared their reason for supporting Darlington: "Annual giving is a critical piece of the overall budget at Darlington, and The Darlington Fund provides support for many integral programs like financial aid. Supporting The Darlington Fund is one of the ways we can help the school continue to meet the ever-changing needs of the Darlington Community while remaining financially strong."
