Darlington senior Tyshawn Good received the Boys’ Club of New York’s 2008 Frank Scott Memorial Scholarship Award during the 33rd All Sports Hall of Fame Dinner on Nov. 5. He is a lifelong member of the organization.

Good attended the summer program at Gardiner School in New Jersey, and as a result of his achievements, he was voted Most Outstanding Student. An active member of the Boys' Club’s After School Academy, he later traveled with a select group of members to the Island School in Cape Eleuthera, Bahamas. Finally, as a candidate of the Independent School Placement program, he was accepted at Darlington School in 2005.

He lives in Moser House and is a four-year letterman on the varsity basketball team.

"Tyshawn has always worked hard to achieve his goal of playing college basketball, and the realization of that dream will most likely soon come to fruition," said Head of House Tim McCann. "I applaud Tyshawn for following his dreams and getting a good education at the same time."

Good was first team All-State, second in the state in scoring as a junior, and is currently being recruited by several Division I schools.

"I have coached basketball for 41 years, and Tyshawn ranks at the top of the best I have ever coached," said head coach Jim Van Es.

He is the son of Lisa Harris-Valgean of Jamaica, N.Y., and Samuel Good of Corona, N.Y.
