Brant Evans

Brant came to Darlington in 2008 and currently serves as dean of student life at the Upper School. He also teaches AP government classes and coaches baseball. Brant holds a B.A. in History and an M.Ed. in Social Sciences from the University of Georgia. His wife, Ashley, teaches Spanish and coaches cheerleading and diving.

Doug became Head of Moser House in 2014 following seven years of service as director of graphic design in the school's Communication Office. He holds an associate’s degree in Visual Communication from The Art Institute of Atlanta, and has over 30 years of experience in advertising, graphic design and multimedia communications. He is also an accomplished illustrator. Prior to his work at Darlington, Doug owned and operated Doug Hamil Advertising Inc. An Eagle Scout, he has also been an active Boy Scout leader since 2003.

Tara joined Darlington's student life team in 2002 and was named dean of students for global education in 2016. Previously, she held the roles of director of ESL, spiritual life coordinator and head of house. Tara holds a B.A. and an M.A.T., both from Carson-Newman College. She and her husband Brian, an Upper School history teacher, live on campus with their children, Maggie ('19), Davis, Wesley and Harrison.

Dana Peek

Dana Peek has taught Upper School math since 2010 and was named a dean of students in 2014. She holds a B.A. in Economics from Furman University and is currently pursuing her M.Ed. in Independent School Leadership at Vanderbilt University. Prior to being hired, Dana was a frequent substitute teacher at Darlington and regularly tutored students in math. She has also served as an SAT Prep math instructor for Floyd County Schools, and has seven years of experience in college admissions. She is the mother of current students Ella (’15) and Harris ('18).

Marcus Holmes

Marcus has been a resident faculty member at Darlington since 2006 and currently serves as dean of residential life and head of Thornwood House. He previously served as desktop support specialist, but made the transition to head of house in 2009 so he and his family could be more involved in student life. Marcus’ background in the residential environment, both as a former boarding student and a resident faculty member, make him a natural for this role. He holds a B.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University. Marcus enjoys skydiving, SCUBA diving, spelunking and spending time with his family. His wife, Melinda, is Darlington’s director of library services, and his daughters, Addie (’17) and Julia (’18), are current students.

Jill has been head of Cooper House, the first-year girls’ house, since 2011. With over two decades of experience working with young women through the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta, she holds a B.S. in Leisure Studies from Southeast Missouri State University and an M.S. in Recreation, Park & Tourism Administration from Western Illinois University. She has also taught P.E. and health at the college level. Jill enjoys knitting, reading and camping. Her husband, Chris, is a science teacher at the Upper School.

Reba Barnes

Reba has been at Darlington since 1996, serving as an administrative assistant in the Admission Office until she was named a head of house in 2000. She currently serves as head of Summerbell House, the first-year boys' residence hall. In 2007, she took on an additional role as director of the school’s Servant Leadership Program, coordinating fun community service opportunities with organizations like the Boys & Girls Club and the Open Door Children’s Home. Before Darlington, she dabbled in many areas, including catering, healthcare and motivational speaking. Reba and her husband, Wendell, have judged local preliminaries for state pageants for several years. She also enjoys cooking, watching old movies, travel, gardening and spending time with her son, Trip (’02) and his wife, Jessica.

Denise has served as the executive assistant in Darlington’s Student Life Office since 1996. She received the William Gordon Neville Jr. House Senate Faculty Award in 2006 and was instrumental in starting the Darlington Diamonds dance program during the 2006-07 school year. Denise enjoys artwork, photography, music and traveling. She and her husband, Wayne, are the parents of Darlington alumni Bryan (’99) and Russell (’03).

Lauren Peal

Lauren has served as head of Regester House since 2013. She holds a B.S. in Biology from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., and is certified in CPR and First Aid. She has more than a decade of experience in education, serving previously as a seventh-grade science teacher at The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Fla., and as a residential advisor for the Exploration Intermediate Program in Wellesley, Mass., where she supervised two female residence halls. Lauren and her husband Matt, Upper School history teacher and director of operations for Coosa Junior Golf Academy, have two children, A.J. and Abby.

John has been head of Neville House and since 2011. He holds a B.A. in History from the College of Wooster and an M.A. in Social Sciences from Wesleyan University. John has more than 20 years of experience teaching, coaching and working in residential life. He and his wife, Bebe, Darlington's ELA-8 counselor, have two children, Casey ('19) and Colin ('19).
