Savannah Sands ('16) currently has photography from her "Learning from Other Generations" collection on exhibit at the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Gutman Library as part of the Out of Eden Learn initiative.

The exhibit, called "Uncovering the Everyday: Student work from the Out of Eden Learn Project," is on display now through Oct. 28.

Out of Eden Learn is an online learning community and research project accompanying journalist Paul Salopek on his 21,000-mile-long journey across the world on foot, the Out of Eden Walk.

Media Arts Director Adrienne Forgette learned about the online learning community during her time at the Future of Learning Institute at Harvard Graduate School of Education, which she attended thanks to funds provided by Darlington's Carla and Leonard Wood Distinguished Faculty Fellowship. Forgette then implemented the curriculum in her Introduction to Media Arts class last fall.

“Savannah was an active participant in our Out of Eden Learn community,” Forgette said. ”Savannah, now at SCAD, is a very talented artist and always took a thoughtful, unique approach to all of the media she created.”

Out of Eden Learn's approach to cross-cultural inquiry and exchange invites young people from around the world to slow down and observe the world carefully, share their stories and perspectives, and explore how their lives connect to bigger human stories. The curriculum especially encourages young people to look more closely at their everyday surroundings. The exhibit, "Uncovering the Everyday," celebrates this work.
