Senior Selena Chen of Rome won a Silver Key award for her painting, "What Do You See?" and a Honorable Mention for her printmaking piece, "Caged." Her painting will be on digital display at the Atlanta campus of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) through March 19.
Junior Chandler Edge of Taylorsville, Ga., received a Honorable Mention in the writing category for his short story, "Ghost."

Keyla Ji of Shanghai
won a Gold Key award for her photograph, "In Between," and an Honorable Mention for her photograph, "Limitation." The regional Gold Key makes her eligible to move on to the next level to vie for a national Gold Key award. "In Between" will also be on display at SCAD through March 19.
Junior JC Wang of Luoyang, China, received a Honorable Mention for his work in the drawing and illustration category with "Self Portrait."
"It's great to see our students engage in these kinds of competitions," said Adrienne Forgette, Darlington's media arts director. "Through them they receive validation that what they're doing is among some of the best in the country, and learn the 'national standards' as many go on to compete for spots in art schools and different programs. It certainly helps them with the portfolio process."
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards were established by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers in 1923 to recognize the vision, ingenuity and talent of the nation’s youth—artists and writers, filmmakers and photographers, poets and sculptors. Past winners have included Truman Capote, Lena Dunham, Robert Redford and Andy Warhol.
