Seniors Natalie Collins and John Goldin have been selected to represent Darlington in the 2015 High School Female/Male Scholarship Award Competition, sponsored by the Georgia Athletic Directors Association (GADA). The program recognizes seniors who have represented their respective sports well both in performance and in leadership. Two winners will be chosen from the state, each winning a $1,000 scholarship to the school of their choice.

“Natalie and John represent what we hope for and want every student-athlete to be: successful in all aspects of their lives whether in the game, in the classroom—anywhere their future studies take them,” said Athletic Director Bob Stinchcomb. “We know that they will make their fellow Tigers proud in this competition.”

Collins is a three-year member of the varsity crew team, two-year member of the cheerleading squad, and also runs track and field. As a rower, she received both the Scholar-Athlete Award and Coxswain Award in 2013 and 2014. Collins is an AP Scholar and holds membership in the Gamma Chi Epsilon Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, Cum Laude Society, National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. She is a 2012 graduate of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce’s High School Leadership Rome program. Collins has received a variety of academic awards, and holds the number one ranking in Darlington’s Class of 2015. Collins serves on Honor Council, is an Admission Tiger Expert and Spiritual Life Liaison, and has served on House Senate and the Y-Cabinet. Collins has spearheaded local service projects, traveled internationally for missions, and has served as a volunteer for the Tri for the Kids youth triathlon and Darlington’s Cheer Summer Camp. She is the daughter of Rozanne and Forrest Collins of Calhoun, Ga.

Goldin is a four-year member of the baseball team, and has lettered three times. Since joining the team, he has also won the Scholar-Athlete Award. Goldin maintains a 4.0 GPA and ranks at number seven in his senior class. He is a member of the Cum Laude Society, Science Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. He has also held leadership positions in Spanish Club, Science Club and Young Republicans. The student had the opportunity to serve on a mission trip in the Dominican Republic last summer, and has also volunteered at several school events including the Special Olympics and Light the Lake. He is the son of Nancy and George Goldin of Rome.

GADA Scholarship Award nominees are judged in the following categories: scholarship, athletic participation, leadership, sportsmanship, and honors and awards/recognition. Winners will be notified by March 22. For more information on GADA, visit www.gadaonline.net.
