Seniors Kinslee Clevenger and Spencer Fields have been selected to represent Darlington in the Rome-Floyd Parks & Recreation Authority's John Pinson Outstanding Student Athlete Award competition.

“Kinslee and Spencer are great examples of student-athletes, performing well on the field and in the classroom, successfully juggling busy lives,” said Bob Stinchcomb, Darlington's athletic director. “We are so proud of these Tigers and know they will represent our school well in this competition.”

Clevenger is a four-year member of the track & field and cross country teams. She is the recipient of several awards, including the Jeff Gaither Award for persistence and dedication in track & field, and the GoGo Running Award for participating in the most races in 2013. Clevenger has placed in several local and state meets, and has been recognized on various all-area first teams. The student is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, Darlington's Honor Council, Art Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, and Darlington's Tiger Expert program. She has also led basketball camps at Darlington, and worked as a volunteer for R.A.C.E. Rome and First Presbyterian Church's annual Thanksgiving food drive and vacation Bible school programs. She is the daughter of Gina and Lee Clevenger of Rome.

Fields is a four-year member of the track & field team, and has run cross country since sixth grade. In 2013, he was recognized by the Rome News-Tribune as Runner of the Year. He has been named to many all-state and all-area teams, and has successfully placed several times in the track & field portion of the 1A Private Georgia Olympics. He is a member of Darlington's Honor Council, the National Honor Society, the Mu Theta Alpha Math Honor Society, the Cum Laude Society, and Junior State of America, and also serves as Science Club president. Fields has won several E.L. Wright awards for scholastic achievement and was recognized last year as an AP Scholar with distinction. For the past two summers, Fields has worked in a personal garden to donate all of the produce to Rome Action Ministries. He is the son of Katy and Jayson Fields of Kingston, Ga.

The John Pinson Outstanding Student Athlete Award, which recognizes two outstanding high school seniors in Rome and Floyd County with a $1,000 college scholarship, will be presented at the Rome-Floyd Sports Hall of Fame Induction Banquet on Feb. 23.
