Sims named September Student of the Month

Outstanding academic achievement has won senior Kia Sims the honor of being named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for September.

A resident student and leader among her peers, Sims currently serves as president of the House Senate, an advancement ambassador, and head prefect in Cooper House, the first-year girls' residence hall. She has also been president of the Ladies' Chorale, secretary of the Young Democrats, member of the Discipline Committee and a varsity cheerleader. She has taken 4 AP and Honors courses at Darlington. 

Sims has received a number of awards and honors during her four years as a resident student at Darlington, including the 2013 Best Ensemble Member Theater Award, the 2012 Ladies' Chorale Spirit Award, the 2012 Class Citizenship Award, and the 2011 Morgan Sisley Love of Life Award.

The daughter of Sharon Sims of Ellenwood, Ga., and Wiley Sims of Covington, Ga., Kia will be honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on Sept. 16.
