Fine arts students compete at local, regional and state levels

More than 20 of Darlington’s fine arts students were selected to represent the school in local, regional and state-level instrumental and vocal competitions this winter.

Senior Veronica Banford, junior Bonnie Rowland and senior Ashley Zhang participated in the Rome Symphony Orchestra’s inaugural Concerto Competition, held at Berry College on Jan. 22. Rowland received an Honorable Mention for her performance.

Banford, Zhang, sophomore Matt Choi, senior Sara Jessica Crawford, freshman Liz Darnell, freshman Graham Daugherty, sophomore David Ethridge, junior Charlene Fan, junior Sean Healy, senior Mark Huang, sophomore Nolan Jackson, sophomore O’Keefe Johnson, junior Wesley Kuo, junior Elena Schanz, junior Anna Sea and junior Jannet Zhang were participated in the GMEA District 7 Honor Orchestra, hosted by Darlington School Feb. 4-6.

Rowland, seventh-grader Caroline Thoms and freshman David Thoms participated in GMEA District 7 Honor Band Feb. 17-19 at Heritage High School in Ringgold, Ga.

Sophomore Kelli Maria Crawford, eighth-grader Jack Tunnell and sophomore Will Warren were selected to participate in GMEA All-State Chorus Feb. 24-26 in Savannah, Ga.
