Breaking bread together has its roots in ancient Jewish traditions. It was the first act after the blessing of a meal, symbolizing a break in the day’s work and the start of fellowship. Last week, I gathered my advisee family to break bread together before they scattered to spend the holidays with their family and friends.

The Smith Smarties enjoyed a Thanksgiving Feast to celebrate the end of our study of the Pilgrims' journey to the New World! The pre-kindergarten students made papooses and drums, and each child published a new book titled "The Thanksgiving Story!"

Getting to participate in the Georgia Educational Technology Conference (GaETC) earlier this month was not only an honor and a privilege, but was also a really beneficial opportunity for me. I feel that being able to apply something to your everyday life is one of the most important aspects of truly learning.


ELA-8 Backpack Buddy Service Project

The Service Committee food drive for the Backpack Buddy program was a success. We set a goal of 500 bags and filled 580 bags! Plus, we sent a car full of extra food to be used by Rome Action Ministries.


3rd-Graders Prepare for Friendship Feast

With the help of many supportive moms, third-graders were busy on Wednesday and Thursday preparing to host the annual Friendship Feast. The students helped prepare the soup and fruit salad, rolled utensils, wrote names on place cards, and cut out place mats. They also helped with setting up chairs, covering and decorating the tables, and putting out food.


Servant Leaders Return to Boys & Girls Club

Darlington advances to next round in quiz bowl

A team of four students from Darlington's Upper School division won big on "High Q" during last week's taping at the WSB-TV studios in Atlanta. Will Crawford ('16), Dawson Horah ('16), Dylan Paracka ('16), and Mary Margaret Wright ('16) made up the group of young scholars that beat Atlanta Jewish Academy, 420 to 100.
