Shakespeare Comes to Rome

I first heard about the Rome Shakespeare Festival at Rome Little Theatre’s rendition of “Spamalot.” The three days spent waiting for feedback on the auditions were some of the most tedious and drawn out in my life. I had never done community theatre or anything on this scale before, and I knew absolutely none of the other members of the cast.


Horah ('19) selected as winner of Harbor House poetry contest

Rising sophomore Natalie Horah was recently recognized by Harbor House – the Northwest Georgia Child Advocacy Center as the first-place winner of the organization’s National Child Abuse Prevention Month Poetry Contest.


Second Semester Academic Honors

Students in grades 6-12 are recognized based on their grade average for the semester, as follows: Headmaster's List, 95 or higher average with no grade below 90; Director’s List, 90 or higher average with no grade below 85. Grades for students in Honors or Advanced Placement courses are weighted five points for Honor Roll computation purposes.


Alumna’s talent featured in Dow Jones News Fund publication

The graphic design work of recent graduate Selena Chen (’16) has provided the brand new look for the Dow Jones News Fund’s Adviser Update. The quarterly digital magazine is geared towards media teachers and advisers, and features news stories and highlights from high school writing, design and photography.


Students donate model of government building to County Commission

Rising fourth-grade students Garrett Kizziah and Trenton Moore presented their replica of the Floyd County Administration Building to the Floyd County Commission on Tuesday. The model was constructed as a part of the 3rd Grade Community Project.


County schools are back together, while Darlington and Rome make moves

Following a Georgia High School Association sports region and class realignment, Darlington will make the move back to Class A for the 2016-17 school year.


Solar farm to be constructed on Darlington campus

Ground will break for a new five-acre solar farm on the Darlington campus in early July. The project, developed by Atlanta-based Inman Solar, will provide power to the local grid by way of a 900-kilowatt solar array consisting of 2,813 modules on tilted panels.


Purple Tie Affair to raise money for parent organizations

The Purple Tie Committee of Darlington School is pleased to announce that “Tigers and ’Tails” will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in the Johnson-Drummond Amphitheater behind Thatcher Hall.
