Coping When a Friend Commits Suicide

Our community was recently shocked at the suicide death of a young person from a neighboring school. Several Darlington students were friends of this young lady and have had to begin the incredibly difficult process of grieving over the loss of a friend. Grieving over any death is difficult, but the experience is made even more complex when death is from a suicide.

Is My Child Normal?

Over the past 20 years of working with children, teenagers and their families the thing parents want to know from me more than any other is… “Is my child normal?” It is a reasonable question. No one wants their child to be abnormal, but frankly, all of our children do weird things from time to time and it just begs us to ponder whether ours are the only ones to act so peculiar.
