Take Charge!
In 2010, Darlington School’s Board of Trustees charged the Alumni Council with developing a program to groom alumni and prepare them to be the next generation of leadership for the school. After much discussion and planning, the Leadership Darlington retreat was born.
Leadership Darlington is a prestigious and competitive opportunity for Darlington alumni to engage with their alma mater and school leaders on an in-depth, personal level.
What We Do
The program is designed to increase the number of alumni actively engaged with the school and to develop the next generation of Darlington’s leadership.
Modeled after leadership programs offered by local Chambers of Commerce and other organizations, Leadership Darlington seeks to educate alumni about the inner workings of the school and provide an avenue for them to become involved in volunteer roles that are most appropriate for them.
Participants obtain an integrated view of Darlington, the internal and external forces that affect her direction, and the challenges she faces. They will also experience an interchange with senior school administrators and participate in discussions about the future of Darlington.

For those interested in applying to Leadership Darlington, or to nominate someone to be considered for the program, please send an e-mail to alumni@darlingtonschool.org and provide the name and contact information. These individuals will be added to the invitation list for the next available class.
Leadership Darlington participants are selected based on the information they provide in their application form. Qualities considered suitable for participation include leadership involvement in professional, community or faith-based organizations, awards, recognitions or personal achievements. Individuals will be notified if they are accepted into the program after the applications have been evaluated.
When?
The inaugural retreat will be held in March 4-5, 2012 and will feature Jere Drummond (’57), retired vice chairman of BellSouth Corp. and Darlington Distinguished Alumnus, as the honorary chairman.
