How To Apply

Lower School

  1. Download Darlington School’s application for admission from this Web page.

  2. Use the following instruction to complete Parts A-E of the application:

    A-C: These sections of the application provide contact and family information and must be completed by the applicant’s custodial parent(s). D: The Confidential Evaluation must be completed and signed by the applicant’s teacher or principal and returned along with the transcript to Darlington’s Admission Office. E: The Request for Transcript must be signed by the custodial parents and provided to the applicant’s current school. The current school will then provide the applicant’s transcript and other important documentation to Darlington. NOTE: While application decisions can be made with mid-year or unofficial transcripts, enrollment at Darlington cannot be completed without an official, notarized copy of the applicant’s transcript from the most recent academic institution.

  3. Send Parts A-C of the application and your application fee of $50 to Darlington School, Admission Office, 1014 Cave Spring Rd., Rome, GA, 30161.

  4. Schedule a campus visit and interview with Darlington’s Admission Office. A campus visit is perhaps the most important part of the application process, as it gives the applicant the opportunity to experience life at Darlington firsthand. Call 706-802-4378 or toll free at 1-800-368-4437, ext. 378, to schedule your campus tour and interview today.

  5. At the Lower School level, Darlington requires an observation/evaluation of students entering pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and a test/evaluation for students entering pre-first through fifth grades.

Middle and Upper Schools

  1. Download Darlington School’s application for admission from this Web page.

  2. Use the following instruction to complete Parts A-G of the application:

    A: Part A provides contact and family information and must be completed by the applicant’s custodial parent(s). B: Part B provides educational history and medical information and must be completed by the applicant’s custodial parent(s). C: The Parent Questionnaire should be completed by the custodial parent(s). D: The Student Questionnaire should be completed in the applicant’s own handwriting. E-F: The applicant should complete the name portion of Parts E-F and provide these forms to his or her current math and English teachers. It is best to wait until mid-way through the year to ask for a recommendation; additionally, it is useful to provide the teachers with an envelope addressed to Darlington School, 1014 Cave Spring Rd., Rome, GA, 30161. G: The Request for Transcript must be signed by the custodial parents and provided to the applicant’s current school. The current school will then provide the applicant’s transcript and other important documentation to Darlington. NOTE: While application decisions can be made with mid-year or unofficial transcripts, enrollment at Darlington cannot be completed without an official, notarized copy of the applicant’s transcript from the most recent academic institution.

  3. Send Parts A-D of the application and your application fee ($50 for U.S. residents, $100 for non-U.S. residents) to Darlington School, Admission Office, 1014 Cave Spring Rd., Rome, GA, 30161. To determine the status of residency, please use the primary contact address during the application process.

  4. Schedule a campus visit and interview with Darlington’s Admission Office.   5. At the Middle School level, the OLSAT (Otis Lennon School Ability Test) is required; at the Upper School, the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test) is required. For international students, the TOEFL is required. Registration for the SSAT and the TOEFL can be completed through each test’s individual Web site.
