Advanced Placement Courses

Darlington’s Advanced Placement courses provide opportunities for advanced specialized coursework and college credit. A score of 3 or higher (out of a possible 5) often means the student is eligible to receive college credit or waive required college courses in the subject covered by the AP exam.

  • Darlington sophomores take AP World History, AP Chemistry and AP Languages; juniors take AP English Language, AP Sciences, AP U.S. History, AP Spanish or AP Calculus. Seniors may choose from offerings including AP Statistics, AP Calculus, AP Art History, AP Economics, AP English Literature, or AP Music Theory.

  • In 2010, 141 Darlington students took a total of 311 AP Exams; 78.7 percent of the exams scored 3 or higher.

  • During the 2009-10 school year, 53 Darlington students earned the designation of AP Scholar by The College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the AP exams. Eighteen were AP Scholars, 15 were AP Scholars with Honor, and 20 were AP Scholars with Distinction (two of which were also designated National AP Scholars).

  • All students enrolled in AP classes are required to take the AP exam.
