The fine arts department celebrated the reveal of our school-wide collaborative art installation at the Trippeer Arch with faculty and students.
The framed, mosaic-style triptych, contains over 475 ceramic pieces created by Darlington students in all levels during the spring and fall of 2023. This long process, led by Pre-K to 8 art teachers Jenifer Thoem and Christina Kopp, included cutting out shapes from slabs of white earthenware clay, firing and glazing multiple times, and permanently installing the pieces in black wooden frames created by Mr. Greg Kellett from The Budd Group facilities team. Birds, butterflies, flowers, leaves and a hidden tiger make up this one-of-a-kind work of art.
The viewing activities will began 9 a.m. and continued through the end of the day with an ornament activity provided by Upper School art teacher Kathy O'Mara and refreshments provided by Flik and Miss Vickie.
All Pre-K to 8 art classes had time scheduled with fine arts teachers to come view the work and enjoy some refreshments and a seasonal activity. Upper School students stopped by during their free or club periods on Wednesday. We're excited to share this collaborative project with the Darlington Community!
