Boarding #SeniorSpotlight: Sarata Diallo

A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

Let’s get to know Sarata Diallo, a two-year boarding student from Saudi Arabia who plays soccer and serves as treasurer or HOSA Club.

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Lake, RUMPUS, people

What song reminds you of high school?
“Good Days” - SZA

What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“Gilmore Girls”

What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Rock ‘N Roll Sushi

What house are you a member of?
Cooper

What are you involved in at Darlington?
HOSA club (treasurer), varsity soccer

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Coach Shorey because he is very understanding and easy to communicate with. He motivates you to help you get better at the sport with kind words and by implementing technical practices during training.

If you are involved in fine arts, what is your favorite activity and why?
I am involved in piano and my favorite activity is being able to learn how to play pieces that I hear on the radio, pieces that aren’t necessarily a “piano” piece.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
My favorite place on campus is the library because of how warm and cozy it is.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Mr. Cox is my favorite teacher because not only does he make his class interesting and fun, he also is very kind outside of the classroom. When you see him in the halls, he waves and smiles and before class starts, he starts a conversation with us about anything.

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
My favorite thing about Darlington is the international community that I am surrounded by. I have been able to meet people from all around the world, which allowed me to learn about different cultures.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
I was fortunate to experience RUMPUS, which is something I believe I wouldn’t be able to experience anywhere else. I was able to talk to people that I never thought I would talk to and engage in activities that I couldn’t have imagined doing.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
At Darlington, I was forced to come out of my shell to be able to become friends with people that I now call my close friends. I have grown individually by learning how to become independent and learn how to be comfortable on my own.

What is your dream job?
Doctor
