Twenty-one alumni representing seven states and two countries will participate in the school’s 12th annual Leadership Darlington program in March.
“We are thrilled to welcome the 12th class of Leadership Darlington back to the Lakeside! This is a prestigious and competitive opportunity for alumni to engage with their alma mater and school leaders on an in-depth, personal level,” said Vicki Vincent, director of alumni relations. “The program is designed to increase the number of alumni actively connected with the school and develop the next generation of Darlington’s leadership.”
Members of the Leadership Darlington Class of 2024 include Robert Alford ('92), Dr. Valerie (Woods) Ambrose ('98), Heather Bowman ('97), Lauren (McDaniel) Chumbler ('09), Steve Chumbler ('07), Steve Earle ('83), Myles Englis ('12), Lucas Greenberg ('14), Vic Hixon ('92), Cooper Holmes ('02), Noah Katz ('14), Sarah (Manning) Keene ('14), Dr. Trey Lee III ('88), Dawit Lemma ('97), Lee (Taylor) Morris ('07), Morgan (Pollard) Patal ('13), Carol (Culpepper) Seal ('90), David Sewell ('75), Katie (Flint) Smith ('09), Lauren (Muller) Stone ('02) and Chase Tolbert ('12).
Over two days, participants will obtain an integrated view of Darlington, including the internal and external forces that affect the school's direction, and the challenges she faces. They will also experience an interchange with senior administrators and participate in discussions about the future of Darlington.
The program will feature Gordon Smith ('71), vice chair of Darlington's Board of Trustees, as honorary chair of Leadership Darlington. Smith retired as executive director and chief operating officer of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) in 2019 and lives in Atlanta, Ga., with his wife, Jane.
