Boarding #SeniorSpotlight: Grace Junger

A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

Let’s get to know Grace Junger, a four-year boarding student from Malibu, Calif., who serves as a leader in Thornwood House and captain of the girls’ soccer team.

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Friends, school, community

What song reminds you of high school?
“As it Was” by Harry Styles

What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“Gossip Girl”

What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Truett’s Chick-fil-A

What house are you a member of?
Thornwood House

What are you involved in at Darlington?
Varsity girls’ soccer (captain), Thornwood House dorm leader, Student Activities Committee, Discipline Committee

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Mr. Shorey - he has been my coach for four years and  he has taught me discipline and the importance of showing up and being there.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
Thornwood Patio - this brings friends and girls together during the spring when we all tan outside and enjoy the sun and spring together.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Mrs. Haynes because she is kind and loving and is now in my dorm so I see a lot of her this year :)

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
The people and the life lessons that I have learned here, also RUMPUS.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
RUMPUS weekend - this event is nowhere else and really is one of the best weekends at school. This year being a leader, I put a lot more work into it and so Lip Sync and the banner were like my children haha.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I have become very outgoing, not caring what others think just being able to talk to anyone at any time.

What is your dream job?
Maybe a movie director, set director, actress, interior designer - something fun like that.
