The sixteen members of the 2023-24 Senior Ventures class are ready to begin their year-long adventure. Currently, they are learning about project management skills such as goal setting, time management, backward design, communication and organization. These students will write blogs and share videos about their projects soon. Here are the project titles and brief descriptions:
Noelle Adams
Black Community Awareness
Noelle will work to bring awareness to the Black community and businesses in Rome.
Grace Armstrong
S.T.E.M. in Thatcher
Grace will use her passion for S.T.E.M. projects to assist Darlington faculty and students in grades 3-5.
Jack Bell and Aiden Parsa
Optimal Nutrition for Athletic Performance (ONAP)
Jack and Aiden want to learn more about nutrition and eating plans for athletes, working with FLIK to provide the scientifically-proven best foods to fuel athletes before and after sporting events.
Emma Chen
Culinary Enrichment
Emma has a passion for cooking and wants to share this passion with the Darlington Community.
Tommy Cowan
Developing ESP’s (Extra Special People) New Facility
Tommy will be working with ESP to develop their new Northwest Georgia headquarters at the Sports Academy. He is interested in assisting ESP with providing music and art activities in their programming.
David Edwards and Charlie May
Brand Development
David and Charlie want to assist local businesses, non-profits and Darlington teams with their brand development.
Ava Belle Holcombe
Serving Children with Learning Differences
Ava Belle Holcombe will be helping children with learning differences in our community.
J.R. Johnson
Darla
J.R will be developing “Darla”: a Darlington regulated A.I. to assist faculty and students when navigating the Darlington website.
Isla McLaughlin
The Isla McLaughlin Athletic Club (IMAC)
Isla will be working with Mr. Joe Pitts to develop a workout club for Darlington students and faculty.
Elika Lamtar Mohammadi and Taylor Zhang
The Green Project
Elika and Taylor will be helping the environment and making the community a better place for everyone through their Green Team and Sowing Seeds 4U iPeriods and clubs.
Eva Mosley
Music Therapy and Service For The Elderly
Eva will be researching how music neurologically affects dementia patients and providing community service at the Winthrop Memory Care and Assisted Living Facility.
Seidy Pichardo
Student Service Committee (SSC)
Seidy will be developing a sustainable community service program at Darlington School.
Isabella Spears
Sustainability, Education, and Community
Isabella plans to manage, expand and promote the DarFarm.
Senior Ventures is a year-long academic program built on a framework of leadership, innovation and community engagement. Through a proven self-guided exploratory process, seniors whose proposals are selected for this program work independently to develop a project that’s interdisciplinary in scope and is connective, performance-based, investigative, or entrepreneurial.
