Welcome to Episode 116 of The Darlington Podcast! 

In this episode, Content Manager Maddie Chastain talks with faculty summer program directors Eddie Guth, Paige Rogers, and Melissa Smyly about their upcoming camps and the benefits of summer programs for students.

Maddie Chastain has served as content manager in the Communication Office since 2022. She holds a B.A. in Communication from Berry College. While there, she spent three years working on digital marketing for the Center for Personal and Professional Development and serving as a first-year mentor for the Berry College Office of Academic Transitions. Additionally, she held communication/marketing internships with Gordon County Schools, The Big Fake Wedding and the Sexual Assault Center of NWGA. 

Eddie Guth has served as athletic director since 2015. He holds a B.A. in Communications from Rhodes College and has over 30 years of experience in independent school education and athletics. Eddie is no stranger to Darlington, having taught and coached here from 1984 to 1994. Prior to his return to Darlington, Eddie was athletic director and head football coach at Randolph School in Huntsville, Ala.

Paige Rogers has served as pre-K to 8 library associate since 2018 and previously served as a kindergarten teaching assistant starting in 2012. She holds a B.S. from Shorter University. She serves as a middle school advisor and head coach of the middle school football and basketball cheerleading teams. Paige has more than 15 years of experience in education. 

Melissa Smyly has taught English at the Upper School since 2017 and serves as head of the department. She also coaches cheerleading. Melissa holds a B.S. in Secondary Language Arts from Auburn University and an M.A. in Library Media Technology from the University of West Alabama. She has more than two decades of experience teaching literature, grammar, and writing to students in grades 7-12.
