Athletic Booster Club

Athletic Booster Club provides support for all Tiger sports and Lower School physical education, financially and through service. With the annual Family Fee, Darlington families receive two family passes to all regular season varsity home athletic events. Your involvement helps maintain quality facilities and necessary equipment for Darlington’s varsity, junior varsity, and Middle School teams that are not covered by the school budget, thus providing better opportunities for the most dedicated, committed student athletes.

The club operates concession stands, sells seasonal programs, and offers Booster Club memberships for grandparents and alumni in order to generate revenue for Darlington athletics. Additionally, the Athletic Booster Club hosts various events to encourage attendance and/or demonstrate support and spirit for the 26 varsity athletic teams. Your participation as a member and a volunteer strengthens the program that awaits your child in the future.

Monies received from the Family Fee, dues and fundraisers have been used to purchase video and practice equipment, a sound system for the football stadium, a waterboy hydration system, a contribution of $125,000 towards the construction of the A.J. Huffman ’57 Memorial Athletic Center, the repainting of the track surface, and a contribution was made toward the baseball complex enhancements, the addition of restrooms and other complex upgrades. Over the last few years, the Booster Club has also contributed $50 towards the purchase of each letterman’s jacket and $100 toward the purchase of state championship rings. Additionally, the Club funds the scholar awards that are presented seasonally during sports assemblies to the player with the highest GPA for each team.

The Athletic Booster Club has been proud to provide support to the following programs at Darlington over the past several years:

  • Lower School – Field Day sponsorship, refinishing gym floor, basketball goals
  • Middle School – Waterboy Hydration System, summer camp
  • Baseball – contribution to help with upgrades to the complex, sod and irrigation on field
  • Basketball – chairs, shooting guns, summer camp, video equipment
  • Cheerleading – mascot outfit, mats; run-through sign paper and paint, extra uniforms
  • Crew – training equipment, cox box audio system, propeller, seat and sound system
  • Cross Country and Track – tents, timing system, field event equipment, equipment storage building
  • Golf – golf bags, host for region and state tournament, logo golf bags
  • Football – grass and irrigation system on practice field, travel bags, guardian helmets
  • Lacrosse – scoreboard, grass and irrigation for field, video camera, practice equipment
  • Soccer – bleachers, scoreboard, goals, jerseys, equipment cart
  • Softball – pitching machine, safety backstop padding, tournament fees, summer camp
  • Swimming/Diving – diving board, computer-printer and equipment for event timing
  • Tennis – nets, score indicators, windscreens
  • Track – field event equipment, resurfacing track, equipment covers
  • Volleyball – equipment, team camp (middle and upper divisions)
  • Wrestling – mats, digital scales, laptop and projector
  • Floyd County Special Olympics – provide snacks and lunch for all participants and teachers
