Witt named Officer of the Year
September 8, 2009
Bruce Witt, a member of the Cooper House duty staff, was named Officer of the Year in the Cobb County Police Department. The award is presented in conjunction with Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Atlanta.

“I’ve been here since January, and I work the detective side and the uniform side. Here in this precinct, I noticed very quickly that as a detective Bruce goes out of his way to help the uniform guys,” said Sgt. Craig Dong, Witt’s direct supervisor. “Bruce is very thorough, puts in a great effort, and always follows up. It’s really the consistency in doing that that’s important. He also thinks outside the box by looking at different angles and how we can approach tasks in different ways.”

Witt has been employed with the Cobb County Police Department for seven years, and has been in law enforcement for a total of 11 years.

“I was surprised and very humbled that my supervisors chose me, especially considering the fact that I am a detective rather than a road officer,” said Witt, whose wife, Nicole, is head of Cooper House. Their daughters, Felicity (’11), Sylvia (’21) and Claire (’23), are Darlington students.
