Environmental Science students ventured to Pigeon Mountain in Lafayette, Georgia for a subterranean field trip. Named for the millions of Passenger Pigeons that once roosted on its slopes, Pigeon Mountain has one of the most unique cave systems in the eastern United States. The limestone caves afforded students an inside look at a typical northwest Georgia aquifer, as well as many of the bizarre formations and creatures of the underworld.
