Day #SeniorSpotlight: Lawson Goodwin

Tannika King | April 27, 2021 | 799 views

A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

In this #SeniorSpotlight, get to know Lawson Goodwin, a four-year day student from Aragon, Ga., who plays baseball.

When you think of high school, what song comes to mind?
“Dear Today” by Luke Combs -- it talks about enjoying every day because time flies by. It reminds me of how fast my time at Darlington has been and how it seems to get faster every day.

What’s your favorite show to binge on Netflix?
“Longmire”

What house are you a member of?
Neville House

What are you involved in at Darlington?
Baseball

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Coach Larry. He has been my coach all four years of high school ball. He has taught me how to succeed in not just baseball, but in all aspects of life.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
The baseball field -- so many memories there and all the hard work and successes over there make it so special.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Mr. Cox and Mr. Clark. I love the way they run their classes. Relaxed environment in which it’s easy to learn and easy to talk to them.

What's your favorite thing about Darlington?
My favorite thing about Darlington is the diverse group of people that you have the opportunity of befriending.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
I met some of my closest friends at Darlington and I would’ve never become close with them if I was not attending Darlington.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I’ve grown in maturity and learned how to deal with things the right way instead of getting frustrated or mad. The harder classes have taught me to work hard and do the best you can because that’s all you can do.

Where do you want to go to college and what is your dream job?
Georgia Southern and I want to own a construction business.
