Meet this year's Upper School volunteers for The Darlington Fund's Parents for Purple initiative! Parents for Purple is our annual parent campaign for The Darlington Fund, and the volunteers listed below are working hard to get each of their individual classes to 100% participation. Last year's overall parent participation was 60% and this year we're shooting for 75%. We hope you'll help us!
Traci Shropshire - Freshman Class
This is Traci’s first year as a Parents for Purple volunteer but she has previously served as a Purple Tie volunteer. Traci and her husband Chip have three students at Darlington - George (’23), Miles (’24) and Sara (’27).
Wendy Lignell - Freshman and Junior Classes
This is Wendy’s second year serving as a parent representative for the Parents for Purple campaign for The Darlington Fund and we are thrilled to have her back. Wendy is married to Mark Lignell and they have two children at Darlington. Their son Brock is a junior and their other son, Link, is a freshman. Wendy has previously served on the Pre-K Tiger Pride and this is her first year with both students in the Upper School!
Lou Dempsey (’87, LD ’17) - Sophomore class
Lou does it all! He has been a longtime phonathon caller and volunteer, is involved in Tiger Pride and the Athletic Booster Club where he has previously served as president. Lou also helps with the annual Purple Tie Affair as the auctioneer and currently serves on the Alumni Council. He has one current Darlington student, Georgeann (’23).
Jennifer Bagby - Junior Class
Jennifer is a part of a great Darlington family! She is married to Tripp Bagby (’91) and they have two sons, Will (’22) and Chandler (’25). Her sister-in-law is Beth Bagby Smith (’87, LD ’12), Darlington’s longtime Pre-K teacher. Her father-in-law, Wright, graduated in 1963. Jennifer works for the Admission office and has served as a Purple Tie volunteer and a Fairy DarMother; this is Jennifer’s third year with Parents for Purple.
Carter Clark (’87, LD ’17) - Senior Class
This is Carter’s first year as a Parents for Purple volunteer. He and his wife Diane moved to Rome last year to send their children Quinton (’21) and Grayson (’26) to Darlington and they are all thrilled to be back in the Darlington Community. Carter also currently serves on the Alumni Council.
