Our Meet the Alumni Council series allows the personalities of our alumni volunteers shine through. The Darlington Community is fortunate to have such a strong group of alumni willing to share their time and talents to better our school!

Newly elected Alumni Council member Blake Cescutti  (’00, LD ’19) lives in Rome, and works as a Commercial Property & Casualty Broker at Brown & Brown Insurance in Rome.

Let’s get to know Blake in today’s installment of our Meet the Alumni Council series:

Where did you grow up?

Rome, Georgia

What made you want to serve on the Alumni Council?

Darlington provided me with experiences and opportunities that fueled my growth both personally and professionally years after graduation, and I want to make sure that everyone associated with Darlington has the same opportunities that I had. This is about being a part of something bigger than yourself, and serving the community that served me. We are all family

Tell us a little about your family:

I have the most amazing wife, who is a dedicated and passionate second grade teacher here in Rome, and together we have the pleasure of trying to raise an adventurous 6 year old. Courtney, Bennett, and I live in Rome, and when we are not hanging out by the pool, we are typically traveling and making memories.

What music is playing in your car?

XM Radio...either ESPNU sports talk, or Dave Matthews Radio.

Who was your favorite teacher at Darlington (and why)?

There are several, but the one who I think taught me the most outside of the classroom was Mr. Gibbons. He showed me that discipline, hard work, and fun paired together is a recipe for success that cannot be beat. If your not having fun, then what is the point.

What's your favorite movie?

Top Gun

My favorite trip was...

About 5 years ago, my dad and I started going to the Florida Keys tarpon fishing. Running a boat in 4 feet of water through the "back country" to Snipe Point, and spending a day on the edge of the world is the best escape and "reset" button God gave us.

If I could travel anywhere it would be....

Scotland, but more specifically St. Andrews. It's the home of golf.

My favorite Darlington memory is...

Graduation. That is where all the memories came together at once, and all you have left is memories at that point.

Last book I read for fun was....

"Every Stroke Counts". If you're into golf and love numbers and statistics, then it is a must read.

Beach or Mountains?

Beach, but then get on a boat and head out to sea

E-book or Hardcover?

Hardcover

Four people I'd like to take to coffee...

Tiger Woods, Dave Matthews, my dad, and my Pawpaw

The best advice I ever received was...

The Golden Rule

My hobby is...

Golf and chasing ducks during the migration

Cats or dogs?

Dog

When I want to crush karaoke, my song is...

"Mr. Jones"

My favorite saying is...

Everything has a place, and if it is not in its place, then it means it needs attending to.

What I like most about Darlington is...

Darlington provides a place of freedom that allows you to grow and develop independently, and individually, while a structured environment to prepare you for the next stages of life.
