Dominican Republic Trip Update: Day 3 Brings Fun in the Sun

Our group spent some down time at the beach before traveling to Jarabacoa. Jarabacoa is in the mountain region of the country.  The day finished with some fun, music, and dancing.

After two days of working and service, we were exhausted. It was time for relaxing and the restoration of energy. We went to “la playa” (the beach).

After breakfast, we got on the bus and said goodbye to ASCALA, the place we lived for two days. Everyone had already dressed and prepared for hitting the beach. During the half hour driving to the beach, laughter and joy filled the bus.

Finally, we arrived at the beach. The tropical breeze of the Caribbean washed out the exhaustion of doing work, and the blueness of the sea made us forget about everything that bothered us. Some of us swam in the sea and played frisbee or just got a tan and enjoyed the bright sunshine.

After the wonderful pizza lunch on the beach, we headed to the new spot for next service. We ended our day with a dancing party. A dance teacher came over and taught us three kinds of Dominican dances: Merengue, Bachata, and Salsa. After that, we had freestyle dancing... basically everyone showed off their unique dance moves. I can tell that everyone had a good time.

This is a special day that nobody will forget.
