Crosswalk Confessions

As a member of Darlington's crosswalk duty staff, I have the opportunity to serve for a week two times a year monitoring the crosswalk on Tiger Way.

While this may seem like a minimal amount of time and not something anyone would call an "opportunity", it has really showed me something about our students: They are the most polite and sweet children I know!

Hear me out.

They say that integrity is doing what's right when no one is watching, well I think being polite and sweet and saying yes ma'am and no ma'am first thing in the morning is pretty awesome too!

I am blown away at how much our children are smiling and so pleasant in the mornings. School hadn't even started, this Monday it was FREEZING, and they were still awesome to see!

And these are mostly our middle school students I'm talking about!

Seeing their faces makes crosswalk duty something that is enjoyable and it makes my day to have our students smile at me and tell me to have a good day.

Yes, ma'am and yes, sir.

I sure will!

Go Tigers!
