Thank You for Inspiring Success

Why do I give to Darlington?  I believe in the Darlington product!  After 40 years in Darlington’s classrooms teaching courses such as UPC, Chemistry, Physics and Advanced Placement Computer Science, I have seen firsthand how a Darlington education benefits our graduates.  Also, after working as an Advancement Officer for almost 5 years, I have heard numerous stories from alumni that attest to their success because of their Darlington years and teachers.

As an Advancement Officer, I have had the pleasure of visiting with many alumni in the past years.  I am impressed not only by the support they provide to the School, but also how they recall the numerous teachers who helped them reach their potential.  These teachers provided encouragement, guidance, discipline, and knowledge, just as the current teachers do.  The face of Darlington has certainly changed throughout the years but our mission has not.  The teachers of today are just as dedicated and involved with their students as always.  And, the almost symbiotic relationship between faculty and student is still built on trust, respect, and a healthy friendship.

Another additional bonus for Darlington graduates is the large network of alumni scattered across the United States and much of the world.  In my travels, I always seem to have an abundance of people to visit in just about any city.  Our graduates are fortunate to have alumni in their field of study to help mentor and guide them into the business world.

I give because I have seen firsthand the difference it makes, not only in the lives of current students and faculty, but in building a solid Darlington foundation for future years.  So let me take this opportunity to thank all of you who also have a special place in your hearts for Darlington.  It would not be what it is today were it not for the generosity of people like you.

This is part of a blog series written to highlight what it means to be a donor in the Darlington Community and the various ways one can give back to the school. On Aug. 30, the school will host its first-ever Thank a Donor Day to recognize the individuals and businesses whose generous gifts make Darlington the special places that it is.
