As the first week of school came to a close, I had a chance to reflect on the progress we have made in Lower School music class. I know what you must be thinking: "What kind of progress could have possibly happened the very first week of school?" The answer might surprise you!
As my students joined me in class, eager to learn what this year has in store for them, they were delighted to see that all the work they had put in had not been in vain. I reminded them of concepts and melodies they hadn't revisited in three months. The students were quite pleased with their discoveries of how much they remembered and, I have to say, so was I.
If that wasn't enough to give everyone a positive outlook to the rest of the year, when they transferred all they had learned to new music and heard the glorious sounds of their own creations, it was an indescribable moment of hope and electric excitement. So, look out Darlington because the students of the Lower School are coming to preform at an event near you and they are bringing with them musical genius!
