Giving Thanks to Tiger PRIDE

Our wonderful Tiger PRIDE Leadership Team held their last meeting for the 2011-12 school year on Friday, April 27. Please join  me in sending heartfelt thanks to Kathleen Hughes, president; Sally Scarbrough, vice president; Scarlet Roberts, secretary; Stacy Albers, treasurer; and Lauren Brewster, chaplain for their service this year.

These ladies and their committees have worked many hours to make this school year a successful and memorable one. Some of the highlights include the Fun Run, Angel Tree Project, Warm Clothing Drive, supervision for the monthly Late Start days, the100th Day of School Celebration, Eli’s Wish (water filter project), Teacher Appreciation Week, Muffins for Moms, Donuts for Dads, and Field Day, in addition to all of the help given to the teachers and students for classroom projects and events.

Tiger PRIDE also purchased rain ponchos for first and second grade students and AV equipment for Tiger Hall, which allows teachers and guest speakers to connect iPads and laptops for easy presentations. Special thanks also to our room mothers and dads who have done a wonderful job and our committee chairs for following through on every event held this year.

The new Leadership Team for the 2012-13 includes Melinda Brown, president; Susan Pearson, vice president; Sheila Watkins, secretary; Stacy Albers, treasurer; and Lowry May, chaplain. Please join me in welcoming this spirited group of volunteers!

Please mark your calendar for the week of May 14 for Lower School Spirit Week. The theme this year is “Ride the Wave – Catch the Darlington Spirit.” The purpose of spirit week is to create school-wide enthusiasm for the upcoming Field Day and to celebrate our successes this year. Tiger PRIDE is sponsoring a T-shirt sale for this year’s spirit week. Please look for order forms to be distributed within the next few days.

Field Day will beheld on Friday, May 18. The day will begin at 8:15 a.m. in the gym with the presentation of the pre-K play. Following the play, the students will report to Little Tiger Field for a Pep Rally, athletic activities and competitions. Field Day will culminate with a cook out, which parents are cordially invited to attend. Please purchase your tickets in the front office by Monday, May 14. Tickets are $4.50 each.

May 18 will be an Early Release Day. Extended Day is available from 11:45 a.m. until 5:45 p.m. Please note that buses will run only at 3 p.m. on May 18.
