Light Up the Night: The Way We Light Up the Day

Hopefully, you have noticed the sign on our corner of Shorter Avenue and Horseleg Creek Road announcing an Open House for first and second grades on Thursday. Due to space and speed constraints, we have to be fairly succinct in our messages to our 40 mph audience, so I will “shed some light” now on this event and others for the month.

We will offer three open houses throughout January at the Lower School. Two grade levels will be featured each evening as we showcase our teachers and curriculum. You will have the opportunity to sit in the desk of our students and receive instruction, just as they do. You will also be taught by our enrichment teachers, who often lend their expertise in the classrooms. You will become the student and “light up the night” with learning!

Our feeling is that an open house should be much more relevant than hearing about subject matter second- or third-hand from selected speakers. We can’t think of a better way to enlighten families about what, how and why a subject is being taught than to actually experience it! Those who attend will take part in real lessons. Our participants will enjoy the thrill of being back in school and appreciate the talent and innovation that go into shaping our students' futures.

Won't you sharpen your pencils and your minds and please join us?! We hope that current families, as well as those wishing to learn more about Darlington, will take advantage of this opportunity. In other words, these open houses are truly open to everyone to experience the incredible teaching and learning that take place at our Lower School every day. Instead of just hearing about our lights of learning, we invite you to be the connection that Lights Up the Night!

All open houses will begin at 6 p.m. in our gym. The dates are:
January 12----- 1st and 2nd grades
January 19------3rd and 4th grades
January 26------Pre-K and Kindergarten

Please contact me at 706-802-4378 for more information—I’ll keep my light on for you!
