Last Thursday’s Donuts for Dads had a terrific turnout! It was a nice opportunity for our dads to visit with the classroom teachers and spend time with their children. I want to thank our parent volunteers, Scarlet Roberts and Lauren Sklar, who decorated the gym early Thursday morning and assisted with the event. Thanks also to Eric Prince and Rollin Nora from SAGE Dining, who provided refreshments, and to Richard Hightower and Jim Daniels who helped with set up/clean up and are always there to make sure things are picture-perfect.

With less than two months of school remaining, parents thinking about summer camp opportunities should click here or pick up a brochure in the front office. Award-winning Georgia author, Lola Schaefer, is offering a summer workshop for students in grades 1-5 from June 13-16. There will be two sessions based on grade level: 8:30 a.m. to Noon for grades 1-3 and 1:30 to 5 p.m. for grades 4- 5. Space is limited, so please do not delay in registering for this workshop.

Thank you to all of our students and families who came out to support Light the Lake last Friday on the main campus. The elementary chorus did a great job! We thank them and music teacher Ashley Henry for their participation.

Grand/Special Day is coming up! Please mark your calendar for Friday, April 15, at 8:30 a.m. This event will include our Spring Concert at 9:30 a.m. in the gym. The theme for the concert this year is “Anything and Everything Disney.” Parents and friends are welcome to attend. Please let classroom teachers know by April 8 how many grandparents will be attending from your family. See additional information in this week’s Tiger Tales.

Headmaster Tom Whitworth visited with our students the week before spring break and had lunch with a group of students from grades 1-4. They had an opportunity to talk about Darlington, their teachers and what they enjoy about learning.

Achievement testing for grades 1-4 is approaching. Last year, we had great success with grade 4 taking the test online. This year, grades 1-3 will also do online testing in the Computer Lab, with classroom teachers and Patricia Ayer proctoring the test. Testing dates are as follows:

Grade 2                        April 11-14
Grade 3                        April 18-21
Grade 1                        April 26-29
Grade 4                        May 2-5
