Darlington’s fine arts department will present the Broadway classic “Beauty and the Beast” Feb. 18-20 at Rome City Auditorium. Friday and Saturday shows will be at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday’s show will be at 2:30 p.m. The production will feature students from the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools.

“Over 70 students – from veteran performers to first-timers – will take the stage in this production, so it should be a very exciting weekend for everyone,” said director Rudy Childs. “We hope to see you there!”

The story begins when Maurice (played by Owen Greeson) becomes lost in the woods and seeks shelter in an old castle. The master of the castle, the Beast (played by Banks Mattingly), takes him captive and his daughter, Belle (played by Ali Harton), must give up her freedom to save him. In the end, Belle manages to tame the Beast and transform him back into a handsome prince.

The well-known, award-winning musical includes classic numbers like “Belle,” “This is Home,” “Gaston,” “Be Our Guest” and “Beauty and the Beast.”

General admission is $10 for adults and $7 for children, students and senior citizens. These tickets are available at Kroger, Traditions of Rome and Darlington School's reception desks, or they may be purchased at the door. Reserved seats are $15 and must be purchased online.
