Darlington wins educational software

Darlington School was one of more than 100 schools across the United States and Canada to receive a free DyKnow Classroom as part of a giveaway that will allow schools to experience the educational benefits of technology-enhanced teaching and learning without financial obligation.

Through the award, Darlington will receive DyKnow Vision®, interactive education software; DyKnow Monitor®, classroom management software; and other services totaling nearly $3,000. DyKnow software is currently used by thousands of educators in K-12 and higher education institutions worldwide.

“We decided to use this software on our cart of computers for grades 7-8,” said Kandi Riddle, technology coordinator. “Through the use of DyKnow Monitor®, our teachers are able to maintain control of the classroom while promoting responsible use of the computer. The software allows them to view a thumbnail of every student’s computer screen, which means there won’t be a student in the back of the classroom browsing the internet or checking e-mail unless the teacher has approved it. DyKnow Vision® offers another exciting opportunity to blend learning and technology by engaging students through interactive polls and quizzes.”

Laura Konkle, DyKnow president, said it is a privilege to work with educators who are committed to discovering new teaching and learning possibilities through technology. “Each of the awarded schools has a defined plan for leveraging DyKnow software,” she said, “and we look forward to supporting their efforts as new teaching and learning possibilities are realized through the technology.”
