SAT help sessions offered to juniors and seniors

August 15, 2008 | 35 views
Darlington will offer brief mini-sessions to familiarize juniors with the SAT and give seniors extra practice. The goal of these sessions will be to assist in their preparation for a very important part of the college admission process.

Sessions will be taught by English department chairman David Powell and Upper School math teacher Fran Buice ('76). Objectives include greater familiarity with the types of questions asked, strategies for tackling the length of the test, perspectives on how the test is scored, and resources available for individual self-study to improve scores.

The course is optional for all juniors and seniors at no cost to parents.

"We are offering this service so that our students will benefit from some targeted and specific test-taking strategies while at the same time maximizing their comfort with one of the most important factors for college acceptance," said Buice.

Six sessions will be offered throughout the year. Juniors and seniors should look at their calendars now and e-mail their preferred session to fbuice@darlingtonschool.org. Mrs. Buice will also be available for SAT math practice and individual help during first, third and seventh periods on a scheduled basis.
