Fourth grade visited New Echota, the Capital of the Cherokee Nation, after their study of the Cherokee in Georgia Studies. Students were able to see first hand where Cherokee residents of New Echota in the 1830s would have lived, worked, written and enforced laws, printed the Cherokee Phoenix newspaper, and grown food. Fourth grade enjoyed a nice picnic lunch before heading back to school!
