This week in Mr. Cooper's Writing Masters class, we were pleased to have Mr. Richard Lundy and Mr. Chuck Morris from Parker and Lundy Attorneys join us in a "mock trial" to complete our "To Kill A Mockingbird" unit.
With the majority of the class acting as the Jury, Charlie Bell as Bailiff, Caleb Goodwin as Court Clerk, Ian Hankinson as the Accuser, Grayson Davis as the Defendant, Brock Lignell as the Defense Attorney, Emily Ann Treibus as the Prosecuting Attorney, Sarah Tunnell and Radha Miniyar as witnesses, Grace Ann Lundy as the Judge, and our two guest attorneys guiding us, we caught a glimpse into the world of the court system.
This culminating activity was a lot of fun and shed light on the nuances of the justice system in America, and the stark realities of small town courtrooms in the late 1930s.
