Congratulations to Nancy Zhang ('26) and Knox Merritt ('28) who attended the District VII Honors Band festival this past weekend. Both students were accepted for this honor after successfully completing the competitive audition process. Nancy performed in the High School Grades 9-10 Band, and Knox performed with the Middle School II Band. During the three-day event, they worked with their guest conductors and many other talented students who were selected from other schools in the district.
They rehearsed diligently for several hours over the weekend, culminating in a concert on Saturday. Both Nancy and Knox play clarinet, and their parts presented enough challenges to keep them and their sections busy for a few days! The event was held at both Heritage High School and Ringgold High School in Ringgold, Ga., with the final performance being at Ringgold High School. These bands joined together for only a few days and their program was very impressive. Congratulations to Knox and Nancy, and thank you for representing Darlington bands!
