Courses

Students will choose two first-choice courses and two back-up courses. Each class meets every other day.

Robot Roundtable: Building, Programming and Team Competition Using the Lego Mindstorms NXT System

Put your model building and programming skills to work, and discover your inner-engineer. Work in teams to design robots that perform tasks, and reach beyond standard instructions in a final challenge to build a customized robot. No experience necessary.

Corelli to Beethoven: Intermediate to Advanced Orchestra Training for Strings

Join a select group of experienced string players for intensive individual and full-orchestra performances. Learn from the region’s top string pedagogues, and explore stylistic differences through extensive technique and theory training sessions.

Graphic Design: A Computer-Based Exploration of Fine Art and Creative Marketing

Discover the principles of graphic design and use the latest Adobe software to create original posters, DVD covers and advertisements. Work alongside local professionals and build a diverse portfolio for a final art showing.

Middle School MD: Experiences in Human Anatomy and Biotechnology

Scrub in and get ready to discover how science is used in the biomedical profession. Design exciting experiments in the lab, research your findings, and talk shop with local physicians, biologists, and athletic trainers in local clinics and research facilities.

From Basie to Coltrane: An Exploration of Swing to Modern Jazz

Jump into the world of jazz and learn from some of the region’s best musicians. Play music from several stylistic periods as a group during full “Big-Band” rehearsals, as well as in sections, combo groups, and individually with private instructors.

Navigation to Number Theory

Take math to the path. Develop advanced math concepts and then guide your team through uncharted territory. Global positioning systems and the math behind them will shed a whole new light on math in the real world.

Adventures in Eco-Literature

Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Henry David Thoreau engaged their senses to understand and appreciate their natural surroundings. Learn advanced creative writing techniques and spend your summer exploring, observing and journaling the environment.
