Darlington’s Chad Woods, varsity baseball head coach, and his staff make this camp a grand slam for all aspiring baseball players. Baseball Camp focuses on the essential skills of hitting, fielding and pitching. More specifically, campers learn batting techniques, hand-eye coordination, catching skills, and the five steps of pitching mechanics. Campers with a strong interest in pitching will learn to throw a fastball, change-up and curveball.
Chad Woods joined Darlington’s faculty in 2006 as math teacher, head varsity baseball coach and assistant varsity softball coach. He has led teams to the state playoffs five times during his seven years of coaching. Before coming to Darlington, he taught math and coached baseball at Heard County High School in Franklin, Ga., where he was voted Teacher of the Year in 2005 and Assistant Coach of the Year in 2004.
