hat Darlington School, founded in 1905, was named for a teacher, Joseph James Darlington, says a great deal about the philosophy of the School. With a simple mission of preparing young people for college and for life, Darlington is committed to helping students develop intellectually, culturally, socially, and physically. Eighty percent of the School's faculty members live on campus, giving students continuous access to their mentors, and alumni coming back to campus often reminisce of the strong bonds they developed with their teachers.
Stretching for more than 400 acres, Darlington's beautiful campus is nestled around a small lake in the foothills of the Lookout Mountain Range in Rome, Georgia, a community of 30,000. Home to Berry, Floyd, and Shorter Colleges and the medical hub of northwest Georgia, Rome is just over an hour's drive from Atlanta and Chattanooga, Tennessee.
