Holmes named GISL program coordinator
6/30/2008, Lakeside Lines
Melinda Holmes, Darlington’s director of library services, has been named program coordinator for Georgia Independent School Librarians (GISL). In this capacity, she is responsible for planning three meetings in 2008-09 for librarians across the state.

“I am excited about this opportunity to become more involved with GISL,” Holmes said. “I believe serving in this position will really help me connect with other librarians on a professional level.”

Holmes has been a member of Darlington’s faculty since 2006. She holds a B.S. from James Madison University (Va.) and a M.S. from Longwood University (Va.)

An active organization in Georgia for more than 20 years, GISL exists to promote the discipline and value of librarianship in the state, to provide leadership and mentoring, and to strengthen professional ties between independent schools on both a statewide and a national level. It also aims to support its colleagues through the sharing of professional knowledge and ideas, information and experiences related to all aspects of this discipline.
